MANCHESTER UNITED INJURIES TEAM NEWS & LINE UP.

All the latest information on injuries and suspensions in the Manchester United first-team squad, with updates taken directly from the manager's press conferences and interviews.

INJURIES

Six Manchester United first-team players have been ruled out of Thursday's Premier League clash with Chelsea at Old Trafford.

It had been hoped that Fred would return after a three-week lay-off since suffering a hip injury at Everton. However, the Brazilian will not be risked, Ralf Rangnick said.

“He tried to train yesterday but after training I had a long conversation with him and he just told me that he doesn't feel fully fit, he's not at 100 per cent.

“With a player like Fred who's always committed to give his very best, I don't think it makes sense, with the muscular injury that he had, to play him too early, because that would mean we take the risk of a re-injury and this is something that I don't want to do. So he won't be available unfortunately tomorrow.”

Fred picked up a hip injury at Goodison Park on 9 April.

Harry Maguire and Jadon Sancho have also been added to the injury list ahead of the visit of Thomas Tuchel's side.

Maguire has a minor injury while Sancho has been suffering from illness, meaning he has been unable to train.

“And apart from that we have Harry Maguire who is not available. He has some issues with his knee, not a big thing – some niggle in his knee. He hasn't been training, neither yesterday or today.

“Jadon is ill, he has tonsillitis since yesterday, couldn't train today and will also be not available tomorrow.”

Maguire and Sancho will be sidelined too.

Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba are not expected to return until May and perhaps not even before the end of the current campaign, but there is a more positive update on Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguayan has found his appearances limited in recent months due to injury, but he will return to training with the rest of the squad on Friday in the hope of being involved in the games with Brentford, Brighton and Crystal Palace.

“Well, he should be back in training on Friday, so the day after the Chelsea game, according to the team doctor, and then we will have to see,” Ralf said.

“He has been out for quite some time now but according to our team doctor he should be back in training on Friday.”

Cavani was injured while playing for Uruguay.
