Cristiano Ronaldo tells Man Utd he has offer from rival club and begs to leave

Cristiano Ronaldo has informed Manchester United that he has an offer from a rival club and has pleaded with them to let him go.

Manchester United place increased bid for Antony

According to The Sun, the 37-year-longtime old’s agent, Jorge Mendes, urged his client should be released as a reward for his “loyalty” at meetings with Erik ten Hag and senior board members on Wednesday.

Ronaldo has been absent for the majority of United’s preseason campaign and Ten Hag’s appointment, which has started out positively despite the dearth of transfer activity.

In a friendly match played earlier this week behind closed doors, United defeated Wrexham 4-1 thanks in part to contributions from recent additions Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen, who scored a beautiful free-kick.

Ronaldo is rumored to have sat out the game and will instead concentrate on improving his fitness rather of playing against Atletico Madrid on Saturday in Oslo.

One of the clubs still reportedly interested in signing the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is Atletico, but the club’s president maintains that they don’t have the money to complete a deal. Meanwhile, a group of supporters issued a statement warning Ronaldo he isn’t welcome.

Ronaldo’s options for escape are extremely constrained because teams like Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea have all ruled themselves out of contention.

Sporting Lisbon, Ronaldo’s first club, has been mentioned in connection with a bid, and Serie A club Napoli is still keeping an eye on the situation.

While United maintains that the 24-goal leading scorer from the previous season is not for sale, Ronaldo has encouraged United to set a price so that a transfer to the team of his choosing can be initiated.

Ronaldo is eager to join a team competing in the Champions League in order to maintain his status as the league’s top goal scorer and appearance maker.

Despite his continuous performance, United’s lowest-ever point total prevented them from finishing in the top four of the Premier League, and they missed out by a significant margin.

In an effort to strengthen their team, United also brought in promising Dutch full-back Tyrel Malacia in addition to the arrivals of Eriksen and Martinez, but Ronaldo thinks the team is still far from being competitive.

A week from now, on Saturday, United will play Brighton in the Premier League opener. Before the month of August is up, they will also play Southampton, Liverpool, and Brighton.
